Devil Bop, this should make all you saints and sinners bop! Terrific 50ís style rockabilly performed by this three piece unit from Germany
Absolutely great musicianship is the order of the day and a great knack for song writing. All their own tunes, these are infectious bopping tracks that make this one of the best surprises Iíve had in a long time from a band that was, up until now unknown to me.
The opening and title track Devil Bop sets the scene for what is to follow a strong flat out bopper, then move on to Bad Hair Boogie, great fun lyrics, who hasnít had a day when the quiff fails! The singer reaches for the Nu Nile, I go for Black & White myself.
Freight Train Running pounds along reminding me of the Rockiní 8 Balls dance floor filler of similar title but this, is as good a bopper that you are likely to find. Then catch up with Hot Rod with a frantic slapping bass and guitar that reminds me of the Blue Caps.
The albums rocks along nicely and even takes a western swing turn on Youíre the One with guest steel guitar adding a nice contrast to the styles.
Sweet Innocent the last track is probably my favourite with great bass and snare drum and a razor sharp guitar.
This is a delight, rockabilly as it should be, no pretence, no obvious covers or dodgy soundalikes just solid rockiní from track 1 to 15.
I hope that a UK promoter gets to hear this and brings them over, I think they would do very well at some of the weekenders.
