Rockabilly trio from Kentucky, Star Devils, has realeased last year the new album. I have never heard this band before, though they seem to be popular and have played at big festivals like Green Bay, Viva Las Vegas and Hemsby Weekenders. They have their very own style in their music. I would say they have a kind of Mexican accent in their rocking tracks. Playing quite good and with a lot of fun, they are creating rocking hillbilly sound, which is suitable for bopping and rock’n’rolling. Six of 12 songs are self-penned and suit the whole idea of cd. Also all those creations have their own story and own “music”. Recordings are of a very good quality and give atmoshpere of live performance (thanks to the brilliant mixing and energy of musicians). Playing is simple, but nice. Lead guitar player Jim Ohlschmidt fills the space perfectly, though sometimes my hopes to hear something more exciting were deceived. Bassist Frank Turner gives support to the band with his clear slapping and in some way "playing" a drummer. Lance Kaufman, the rhythm guitar player and front man, is bringing the style for Star Devils. Very good voice with a shade of hillbilly. If you close your eyes, you can easily imagine him tapping his feet or making some dance moves while singing.
