Italian rocker and performer Matthew Lee is a rather unknown name here in Belgium, but in Italy things are quite different. Matthew started his musical career when he was eleven years! Well that is to say he started taking piano lessons when he was eleven. From one thing came another and although classically trained it didn’t take long before he discovered Rock and Roll. In his early twenties Matthew had his first stint on Italian TV and in the years to come many followed! Add a busy touring & festival schedule to that and you’ll understand that he is not an unknown artist in Italy.

Live on stage is the second album for Matthew Lee, an album that takes us on a musical journey through the fifties with fifteen great tunes of which all but one are covers. Recorded live on different occasions through Italy, this album gives you a good idea what performing live means for Matthew Lee. From “Wild one” over “High School confidential” to “Georgia On my Mind” Live on stage comes with some great renditions of well known tunes. Next to great rock and Roll tunes you’ll find some music that is not from the rock and roll era as well! CCR’s “Proud Mary” or the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” are re-worked on this album into versions that make you believe these tunes where written in the mid fifties. However despite all the good tunes and the big hits, it is the blues track “‘Ol Whiskey Blues” that does the trick for me. It’s here you can hear the true class of the singer/ piano player.

Matthew Lee is above al a great performer that took on the name “Lee” presumably because his music resembles a lot to the style of the original “Killer”. Piano driven rock and roll! And just like Jerry Lee, Matthew is a captivating and charismatic entertainer that makes every show worthwhile.

What an absolutely cracking album, just listen to the Stones 'Satisfaction' it's like The Stones meet Jerry Lee Lewis. This track is worth the price of the CD alone, but every track sizzles with a band that play stomping hot boogie rock n roll. He's in the UK this summer don't miss one of the most exiting new bands to hit our shores for many years. This is quite simply a totally fantastic album that will fire up any party anywhere.
