The Reverend Horton Heat's Tour Bus Catches Fire

01 April 2016
A tour bus reportedly carrying members of band "The Reverend Horton Heat" to San Diego caught fire on March 23, 2016 near Camp Pendleton.

The occupants were able to get out of the bus as it went up in flames shortly after 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Las Pulgas Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Military firefighters were summoned to subdue
the blaze.

Frontman Jim Heath told it all happened fast.

"I woke the guys up as quickly as I could and tried to get them out of there because it was already filled with smoke,'' he said.

The burned bus and firefighters blocked two southbound lanes in the area into the start of the morning commute, according to the CHP.

The show scheduled to play the same at the Belly Up in Solana Beach went on.
