Imelda May brings rockabilly to Chicago for her first US tour

30 August 2009
Hailing from Dublin, Ireland Imelda May is bringing rockabilly music back to mainstream with her captivating style and voice which she will be showing off live as her first ever US tour kicks off in Chicago, IL at Martyr’s on September 8th.

After her first year of art college Imelda came to the realization that she would rather sing for a living than continue with school and at that point in her life the only real professional experience she had was singing on an ad for Findus Fish Fingers at age 14. Imelda made the bold choice to pursue music and started playing shows at Dublin’s Bruxelles club, where she was occasionally barred from her own shows for being underage.

Her debut solo album Love Tattoo was recently released on August 11th and has already claimed the #1 spot on the Irish charts. It is only a matter of time before the US catches onto her intoxicating music, so go see Imelda May perform in an intimate concert setting while you can.

US dates thus far:

Sept 9 – Chicago / Martyr’s
Sept 11 – LA / The Mint
Sept 12 – NYC / BB Kings w/Chuck Berry
Sept 13 – NYC / Nokia Theater w/Rusted Root
Sept 15 – NYC / Piano’s
