Ferdinando Toscano, better known to everyone by his nom de rock as Freddy Frogs, died of a heart attack on 10th March while visiting his sister in Vero Beach, Fla. He was 66.
Frogs and his numerous doo-wop, rockabilly and swing musical projects played everywhere from a standing Sunday night gig at the old Max’s Kansas City in Manhattan to such Island venues as the Long Island Brewing Co. in Jericho, Mirelle’s in Westbury — and every place in-between.
Sometime in the early to mid-‘70s he decided to open a clothing store in Valley Stream – Frogs. The store sold designer jeans, but it also led to his name.
