Stray Cats to strut for Setzer's 50th

18 January 2009
Brian Setzer will celebrate his 50th birthday in his new hometown of Minneapolis with a rare club gig by his old band, the Stray Cats, April 10 at the Fine Line. Tickets to the party go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. for the all-too-fitting price of $50. Known for the '50s-sounding '80s hits "Stray Cat Strut" and "Rock This Town," the Stray Cats embarked on their first tour in 15 years in 2007, which included a date at Xcel Energy Center with ZZ Top and the Pretenders.

The California-bred trio's history in the Twin Cities goes back to 1981, when it played its first gig opening for the Rolling Stones at the St. Paul Civic Center before it even had a U.S. record deal. In 2005, Setzer married Twin Cities native Julie Reiten and bought a home in Minneapolis.
