The Rockin' piano man from Italy that will knock your socks off!

Matthew Lee is a rock’n’roll singer and pianist from Italy. Besides being a well-talented musician, his unmistakable and ductile voice can be energetic and gritty but also warm and expressive. Despite his young age, he is able to capture the audience's attention on stage, and he’s one of the most complete and charismatic artists in today's musical panorama.

Matthew was born in Pesaro, on January 6 1982. At 11, he started attending the Conservatoire in Pesaro, his hometown. He immediately learned the piano techniques, by playing classical music. His first contact with rock’n’roll arrived by listening to Elvis Presley's LPs, owned by his father.

Three times he was invited to the famous Italian TV show “Domenica In…” which was immediately followed by more TV. Meanwhile the press has defined him as the “genius in Jerry Lee Lewis' wake”

Matthew started touring the most famous Italian clubs, including The Place in Rome, Le Scimmie in Milan, Barfly in Ancona, Naima in Forlì. During summer 2005, he was invited to a number of important festivals, including San Severino Marche Blues Festival, which he opened in front of 1500 enthusiastic people, and the Summer Jamboree festival in Senigallia. At the end of 2005, Matthew performed in Rome, during New Year's Feast, with 150,000 participants.

In November 2006, Matthew Lee released his first album “Shake”, produced by the Italian group I Nomadi. The album was also recorded in their studios. The artistic director of this album was the Nomadi's guitar player Cico Falzone, who also recorded some guitar's tracks. This important co-operation led Matthew to be invited to open the concerts of this famous Italian group. In December 2006, Red Ronnie, who has always appreciated his art, invited him to perform at Motor Show in Bologna, in the "Myths of music" stand. During summer 2007, Matthew was invited by many important Italian blues festivals, including Soul Island festival, Brindisi blues festival, Subiaco Blues festival, Lodi Blues festival and Tropea blues festival.

Even internationally Matthew Lee does not go unnoticed: he started touring abroad last year, appearing in Holland, Germany, France and the UK.

His second album, ‘Matthew Lee live on stage’ was released in May 2008.

Matthew Lee and his Killers have only begun to conquer the world…rock’n’roll is here to stay!!

Matthew Lee - Live On Stage(2008)
self-released
Italian rocker and performer Matthew Lee is a rather unknown name here in Belgium, but in Italy things are quite different. Matthew started his musical career when he was eleven years! Well that is to say he started taking piano lessons when he was eleven. From one thing came another and although classically trained it didn’t take long before he discovered Rock and Roll. In his early twenties Matthew had his first stint on Italian TV and in the years to come many followed! Add a busy touring & festival schedule to that and you’ll understand that he is not an unknown artist in Italy.

Live on stage is the second album for Matthew Lee, an album that takes us on a musical journey through the fifties with fifteen great tunes of which all but one are covers. Recorded live on different occasions through Italy, this album gives you a good idea what performing live means for Matthew Lee. From “Wild one” over “High School confidential” to “Georgia On my Mind” Live on stage comes with some great renditions of well known tunes. Next to great rock and Roll tunes you’ll find some music that is not from the rock and roll era as well! CCR’s “Proud Mary” or the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” are re-worked on this album into versions that make you believe these tunes where written in the mid fifties. However despite all the good tunes and the big hits, it is the blues track “‘Ol Whiskey Blues” that does the trick for me. It’s here you can hear the true class of the singer/piano player.

Matthew Lee is above al a great performer that took on the name “Lee” presumably because his music resembles a lot to the style of the original “Killer”. Piano driven rock and roll! And just like Jerry Lee, Matthew is a captivating and charismatic entertainer that makes every show worthwhile.
