Roots rock & roll - that's the name of the game. Basic, simple stuff, like the geezers in the band. Roadworn tales, twangy guitars and smelly suits.
Jimi Lipponen & the Kummitusjuna (Ghost-train, that is!) is a four piece
Rock 'n' Roll band from Northern Finland.
Marko Lipponen : guitars & vocals
Jyrki Säppi : bass
Perttu Penttinen : guitars & vocals
Esa Pellikka : drums
The band was founded around ten yars ago and has been gigging steadily ever since.
The music style is as simple as the guys themselves, Rock 'n' Roll with a splash
of Country thrown in. The repertoire contains some not so obvious cover tunes and
lots of originals. From Hank to Hanoi Rocks. The material provides a wide range
of rockin party starters and mellow tunes.
Several songs have appeared on different compilations in the USA and Europe:
BlackJacket Racket (Skully Records)
Greasers, Skins, Punks, vol 1&2 (Squicktone Records)
Rock & roll Virus (1999)
In 1999 they contributed music to a US made road movie "Dangerous Mode" by Richard Shipley.
In 2003 they were seen in the travel Tv-show "En route to Kainuu" a co-production
of BBC & Finnish TV. The flick contains some live footage and one original song
"Good Morning Elvis" during the end credits.
First full album "My Way To Hell" came out in early 2003 on the GTEi-label. The CD got
lots of nice reviews in different magazines and webzines. The newest one "Kesoil" came out
in March 2006.
