In 1993 Patrick Ouchene (singer of Domino’s) and Ben Aissa, his good friend and double bass player, decided to start up an authentic rockabilly band. The decision was made and Kasper Devos, the former guitar player of Domino’s, was asked to join them. Soon after the first album ”Something’s Gotta Give” was realeased. The band played almost every night in Belgium, toured Switherland and France, and meanwhile gave workshops in Belgian Schools, telling and showing kids what rockabilly really was. As it happened, the famous session musician Bluesharpest Werner “Big Brad” Braito joined the band. With his arrival the sound of the band stared to change toward 50’s Rhythm and Blues and Desperate Rock’n’Roll. In 1996 lineup has changed again. Werner left the band and the drummer Koen Verbeek (member of Los Fabulous Frankies and former drummer of Sin Alley) joined in. Some months later Kasper Devos decided to quit and was replaced by JP “Bull” Haye, well known person in the Belgium country and western swing scene and a long time fan of the band. Next year Koen had to leave Running Wild, but the band moved on. Despite their not very succesful two albums, Running Wild went on playing a lot of gigs and doing their workshops. They even were invited to represent Belgium at the International Congress of Youth and Music, which was held in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) in 1997.
In March 1998 Bull got into severe car accident and Koen was asked to fill in. Next year the band came to the studio to record another album. In spite of the succesful recording, Runnin Wild played their last gig in November 2000 and went to hiatus.
One year passed and the band was asked to perform as a headliner at Blues Festival in Diest. The idea was to reunte for only one show, but since then they could not stop. Great new releases have been coming out and series of shows has been taking place. So as you can see, Running Wild still rules!!
